Beschreibung

This is a mod that improves destination displays for vehicles in Transport Fever 3, adding functionality like setting line numbers and configuring what's shown as destination

Features:

  • Line numbers: Allows you to set line numbers by writing them in square brackets on line names for example City line [1] - 1 would be picked up, or Airport express [X1] - X1 would be picked up, any symboling is supported. There's a mod setting to use (...) instead if you prefer - existing (...) designators from before revision 9 are migrated to [...] automatically the first time you load a save with this version.
  • Correct destinations: Front (and side) destination displays now properly display line number + destination stop.
    • Destination stops are configurable per line: in the line manager or the line's info window, tick each stop that should be shown as a destination. If none are marked, the mod defaults to the first stop and the halfway (turnaround) stop
    • You can optionally override the displayed text for a destination stop with your own custom text instead of the station name
    • NEW! You can now split destination text to multiple lines by using // where you want the split to happen. So for example City Train//Station would be split into City Train on line and Station on second line
  • Custom vehicle naming: All vehicles (or optionally only vehicles that serve passenger routes) have custom naming format for example Road Vehicle 1 turns to RV001
    • This change was needed due to how we currently handle dynamic destinations by hijacking vehicle name, so we don't need heavy mod like CommonApi2 on TF2
    • You can still name vehicles yourself, our needed logic is just appended to it in that case

This mod is inspired by Enhanced Line Designators mod by lennardo_97 for Transport Fever 2.

For modders

Modders making their own vehicles - you can define overrides yourself also on your mod side on how the mod should behave with your vehicle. Documentation is here: https://gitlab.com/GameBurrow/TF3_DestinationDisplays/#for-vehicle-mod-authors.

For script mod authors - we expose some data you can use like destination stops configured by this mod, more info here https://gitlab.com/GameBurrow/TF3_DestinationDisplays/#for-other-script-mods

Changelog:

  • Revision 27 (2026-11-03)
    • Fixed the destination update interval option using the slider position instead of the selected seconds
  • Revision 26 (2026-10-26)
  • Revision 25 (2026-10-15)
  • Revision 24 (2026-10-14)
    • Long destinations and line names are no longer cut to fit 50 characters as upon further testing the game engine itself does not enforce character limit. Only vehicle rename box has character limit, but since we append to the name, it's not an issue
  • Revision 23 (2026-10-13)
    • Renaming a vehicle by editing only the id part of its name (before the first |) now sticks, instead of being undone. Clearing it, or typing the vehicle's fleet id back, returns it to its fleet number (reported by a player)
    • Improved compatibility with Maz 103 from Classic Asian Buses
    • Improved compatibility with Twin Coach 44-S and Chevrolet C60 from Classic American Buses
  • Revision 22 (2026-10-13)
    • Added Destination change option: switch the sign to the next destination when leaving the stop before a destination, instead of on arrival (suggested by a player)
  • Revision 21 (2026-10-10)
    • Marked Smart Destinations as incompatible mod as it does the same thing that one method of this mod does and the same way
    • Marked Next Stop Displays as incompatible mod as it tocuhes the same parts as this mod
  • Revision 20 (2026-10-04)
    • Fixed: destinations in Cyrillic and other non-Latin scripts were cut to about half the 50-character name limit
  • Revision 19 (2026-10-04)
  • Revision 18 (2026-10-03)
    • Brought back the "Main displays" option: Designator + destination (default) / Designator + line name / Line name only / Unchanged. The line-name modes now work exactly like Designator + destination (same display layout, vehicle compatibility settings and fleet numbering), just with the line name in place of the destination. Side displays follow the front display, the "Side / next-stop displays" option stays removed
    • Vehicle names and displays update right after loading a save, instead of up to ~30 seconds later
    • Fixed: with Fleet numbering off, renaming a vehicle that isn't on a passenger line was undone every couple of seconds
    • TO MODDERS: the blank label role now applies in every "Main displays" mode except "Unchanged". When it doesn't apply, a LINE_NAME box now acts as a number box
  • Revision 17 (2026-10-02)
    • Improved compatibility with Solaris Urbino IV pack
    • Improved compatibility with Class 442 Hamsterbacke (Talent 2)
    • Removed the "Main displays" and "Side / next-stop displays" options - front and side displays now always show designator + destination. The other modes were rarely useful and added unneeded complexity, were also mostly untested
    • Fixed the API for other script mods: destination stops without a custom name now report the station's name instead of an empty name
    • Fixed a bug in API for other script mods: designators and destination names now keep a "|" as typed instead of reporting it as "/"
  • Revision 16 (2026-09-30)
    • Improved compatibility with Rošero-P FCLEI
    • New per-label roles (labels, in config.tl and for vehicle mod authors in model metadata) for vehicles with unusual label layouts (TO MODDERS: replaces blank.nextStopIndex, positions now count every label, not just NEXT_STOP ones)
    • Fleet-number plates (vehicle name labels showing only a number) show just the vehicle's number again
  • Revision 15 (2026-09-30)
    • Improve and simplify 2 line destination rendering and adjusted how it's defined in code (TO MODDERS: rowBottom, rowHeight and rowGap are now deprecated values - replaced with twoLineHeight and twoLineBottom)
  • Revision 14 (2026-09-29)
    • Small optimiziations in code and some cleanups here and there
  • Revision 13 (2026-09-28)
    • Destination stops can now also be configured directly in the line manager: tick the checkbox next to a stop's passenger/cargo box, the custom name field appears under it. New "Destination stop editor" setting picks line manager, line info window or both (default)
    • Fix that our hijacking vehicle names can cause strange behaviour on vehicles that actually intended the reading of vehicle name by the game - like the LNER Class A4 steam locomotive
  • Revision 12 (2026-09-28)
  • Revision 11 (2026-09-27)
    • Converted mod to use translatable language strings
    • Add machine translated translations for game's supported langauges
  • Revision 10 (2026-09-25)
    • Re-introduced next-stop display for London Routemaster due to it's unique destinations display
  • Revision 9 (2026-09-24)
    • Add logic for users to choose if they want use [ ] or ( ) for line designator. New default is [ ]. Saves from before this version are automatically migrated.
  • Revision 8 (2026-09-20)
    • Move all dual-line destination displays slightly higher
    • Added to list of not supporting double-line destinations: Saurer Tüscher
    • Moved Wright StreetCar front display even higher due to it's strange front design
    • Drop the old uneeded space in the line number designator in vehicle name storing
    • Correct that the vehicle changes destination when it arrives at previous destination, not after leaving it, to mimic more real life behaviour
  • Revision 7 (2026-09-19)
    • Added a read-only API for other mods to query a line's destination stops and a vehicle's current destination (line, designator, destination text)
    • Correct the position of Merdeces O405 G display texts
    • Vehicle mod authors can now override noPrefix/noSplit/split settings for their own vehicle model directly, via a field in their model's own metadata, without needing to be added to this mod's config lists
  • Revision 6 (2026-09-18)
    • Added vehicles into list that do not support dual line destinations: Daimler Deck Seat Car
    • Fix destination stops being incorrect if stops are added to or removed from the line
  • Revision 5 (reupload on 2026-09-18)
    • Fix some vehicles cutting the destination display text instead of shrinking it
    • Add multi-line destination support & align destinations
    • Move destination display update frequency into mod settings
  • Revision 4 (2026-09-12)
    • Fixed multi-consist vehicles (like trams and trains) that could have different models variations within one vehicle that needed different front & side display configurations now loading each consist displays correctly
    • Script now supports longer stop names since we don't need to double store destination in the vehicle name for some vehicles
  • Revision 3 (2026-09-11)
    • Added logic to specify which stops are destination stops (you can configure that in line view (the one that appears when you click on line name) - not the line management view)
    • Added option to display custom text as destination instead of stop name
  • Revision 2 (2026-09-11)
    • Adjusted fleet naming to 4 digits just to be sure should somebody hit the limit. Currently it was 3
    • Fixed Tatra T4, DUEWAG Motor Car & Trailers to not display duplicated line numbers
