Billhafen truss bridge

The bridge was built in 1978 for the extension of the Hamburg S-Bahn to Harburg and crosses the Billhafen harbour between the Hammerbrook and Elbbrücken stations.

The bridge is available as a railway and road bridge from 1950. The railway bridge is modified so that it can be used with overhead lines (With 6 or more tracks, the mast may clip through the centre girder). It can be used on curved tracks. Sharp curves, junctions and turnouts are possible, but can look but can look unsightly. This bridge has no abutments.
