PYT - Distance Signs

The next towns ahead, by real road distance — the capital crowned on its line — in your own km or miles.

Drop a Distance Sign beside a road. It follows the road the way its drivers are going, and lists the towns they will reach, nearest first: Thirsk 3, Brightlingsea 9, Epworth 11. Real road distances.

• Only what is down this road: a dead end lists its one village; a road through a junction lists the towns down every branch.
• Up to five towns: the biggest when more lie ahead, or the nearest if you prefer, and the board shrinks to fit.
• The capital, crowned: your headquarters town gets a crown whenever the road leads there.
• Keeps itself up to date: build a road to a new town and the sign adds it within seconds.
• Moves out of the way: when a town grows over a sign on a country road, it walks out past the new edge of town.
• Every era: 1900 painted timber, 1940 enamel, 1980 highway green, 2020 motorway blue on a gantry; Auto picks the year's style.
• Scenery only: charges nothing, slows nothing, needs no other mod.

How to start: Road menu > the PYT tab > Distance Sign, leave Snap to road and Era: Auto, and drop it on the side of the drivers who should read it.

Good to know: a sign shows the 5 biggest towns ahead, so a small town in between can be left out on purpose — switch to the 5 nearest under PYT > Settings > Signs. Tested against build 40423.
