Shinkansen 400 Series / 新幹線400系

The 400 series was a JR East mini-Shinkansen train designed for through services between Shinkansen routes and the converted conventional railway to Yamagata. This port includes the six-car pre-production train, its six-car passenger-service conversion, and a seven-car formation in the silver and dark-grey Tsubasa livery. Pre-production: available 1990–1992 6 cars: available 1992–1995 7 cars: available 2000–2009 Top speed: 240 km/h Power: 5,040 kW per formation Weight: 278.4 tonnes (6 cars); 318 tonnes (7 cars) Passenger capacity: 113 (6 cars); 129 (7 cars) Configuration: 6M (6 cars); 6M1T (7 cars) The seven-car formation uses the silver upper body, dark grey lower body and green stripe of the 2000 repaint. All seven cars use refurbished interior colours: pink reserved seats, green non-reserved seats, and dark patterned Green Car upholstery with yellow headrest covers.
